Thanks to a rich heritage of helping others, our patient-first philosophy is never far from mind.
Jim Glidewell, CDT, started Glidewell Laboratories with the idea that the patient’s health should come above all else. With over four decades of sticking to that idea, the lab continues its efforts to bring comprehensive treatment to patients across the economic spectrum.
Taking its main focus a step further, Glidewell Laboratories began reaching out to numerous local and national organizations, offering laboratory services at low or no cost for those in need, and financial assistance to foundations and charities that also strive to improve the lives of others.
As a firm believer in the idea that there is nothing better than giving to others, Jim Glidewell fosters a giving spirit that resonates throughout the laboratory and its employees. Each year, Glidewell Laboratories initiates many donating opportunities focused on bringing employees together to help out local communities. One such cause is the Red Cross. In 1995, Glidewell Laboratories started with a single blood drive — now, the company hosts six drives a year.
Donating blood is a simple thing to do, but it can make a big difference in the lives of others.
Dental laboratories excel at restorative services: crowns, bridges, full-mouth rehabilitations and everything in between. That is why Glidewell Laboratories has partnered with Donated Dental Services and the Dental Lifeline Network for nearly three decades, and provided over $350,000 worth of restorative services to doctors who perform life-changing dental work for low-income individuals and those that desperately need but cannot afford the dental care they require. The lab also donates restorative work to Give Back a Smile (a foundation dedicated to restoring smiles damaged as a result of domestic violence) and Adopt a Vet (which provides dental care to veterans in need), and regularly works with clinicians who reach out for assistance with special cases. The donating of restorations is complemented by the many extraordinary Glidewell employees who volunteer their time and expertise to fabricate restorations for countless uninsured, underinsured and at-risk individuals in neighboring communities through free clinic events such as the Los Angeles Care Harbor Event.
Aside from providing restorative donations, Glidewell Laboratories also has the opportunity to make financial donations to organizations doing exemplary work. To make an impact on as many organizations as possible, the lab chooses different organizations each year; these include the Wounded Warrior Project, Casa Hogar de los Niños orphanage, Children’s Hospital of Orange County, the Semper Fi Fund, Blind Children’s Learning Center, Age Well Senior Services, Autism Speaks Orange County, Families Helping Families, Child Abuse Prevention Center, Adopt A Family, El Refugio Senior Living Facility, AIDS Services Foundation, OC Animal Care, and more.
Employees also participate in food drives for the Orange County Food Bank and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County to help feed families in need. When they’re not holding bake sales, candy sales and raffles as fun ways to raise donations, Glidewell employees can be found all over Southern California as Team Glidewell in 5K walk/run events to raise awareness for breast cancer, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and child poverty and hunger, and to raise funds for local charities throughout Orange County.
“We strive to drive down restorative costs and expand patient access to affordable dentistry.”
