Q: Why did you choose to work at Glidewell Laboratories?

A: To be honest, I had never heard of the dental industry, and it really interested me. I’ve never had any work done on my teeth, so I had no idea of the whole industry behind what goes into making a tooth for somebody who needs a new one. Glidewell is a big company here in Southern California with a great reputation, and I saw the opportunity here. Coming to work here was something completely different from the chemical engineering I got my degree in, and that excited me. I really saw the potential for growth here. At Glidewell, you’re not limited to your current role. Every day it’s a new project, a new opportunity. It’s not a boring desk job. It’s exciting, it’s fast-paced and it’s constantly changing. You’re always pushed to expand and step up to that next leadership position. If you want to grow, this is the place to do it.

Q: Can you describe your progression in the company?

A: I started as an intern. I did a three-month internship after college, and then I was promoted to my first full-time position as a Process Improvement Specialist. I did that for about a year and had lots of opportunities to grow. Then I took another path and went into project management, which is where I am now. I’m currently a Project Manager in Lab Operations. Our department oversees a lot of operations within our company, and I manage several projects throughout the company. I make sure they’re on track by setting deadlines and goals for those projects. It’s a great place to be and there are lots of opportunities for me to make my own path throughout the company. When I started as an intern, I didn’t have a set path. So I really forged my own way, which I think is a really beneficial part of this company. If I can do that, anybody else can do that as well.

Q: What’s it like coming to work at Glidewell every day?

A: Working at Glidewell is pretty unique. It’s definitely very fast-paced. Every day there’s a new opportunity, a new product, something new coming out in the lab or some new way to do something. We move at the speed of light here at Glidewell. It was kind of crazy coming from school directly into that culture, but it was pretty easy to manage because I had a great team around me that supported me the whole time. So they kind of eased that transition and made it a really pleasant experience. The culture is very team-oriented here. We all want to be on the same team and we’re very supportive of each other. We want to see each other succeed.
