Q: How has your career progressed since you started working at Glidewell Laboratories?

A: I started at Glidewell in 2013. I was originally brought on to start the Polymer R&D department. It’s an area that’s been interesting to company president/CEO Jim Glidewell for quite some time. When I was called and given the opportunity to come here and take the entrepreneurial spirit that Jim has infused into the company to build the department, it was something I couldn’t turn down. I’ve since been promoted to R&D Manager of the Polymer department, and we’ve hired between five and eight R&D and production personnel. So that gives you an idea of the growth that’s happened over the past few years.

Q: In your opinion, what’s the best part about working here?

A: If you asked me a year or two ago, the thing that was my favorite part about working here was what I got to learn. Since then I think it’s become what I’ve been empowered to teach the people I manage and encourage in the people around me, which are the same leadership concepts and the same ideals on which the company thrives.

Q: What do you think the future holds for the company and its employees?

A: The company undertakes so many different strategic initiatives, and almost all of them are centered around technology or leveraging some sort of advanced innovation. But in the end I think it’s the people that are putting those things in motion. So whatever it is we come to, I think the thing that will be the same is the people. I’m really excited for the company’s employees. In my own career here, I have nothing but gratitude and excitement about the things I’ve been able to achieve and the things I’ve been supported and encouraged to go out and work toward. For every person I’ve encountered at this company, I’ve seen nothing but growth and support from the organization. This speaks to the heart of the company culture. Glidewell isn’t a place where you’re hired into a position and expected to fail. You’re hired into a position with the expectation that you’re going to succeed, and you’re given the freedom and the encouragement to go wherever your goal is and beyond.

Q: Is there a particular project you’re most proud of?

A: I take pride in the first product we launched because it was the first launch of a new product in a new category for this company. It represented the culmination of our team and the entire organization stepping out into a new product category, developing leading-edge technology and working together to go out into the unknown. We did it as a team, and that was really special, I thought.

Q: Do you have any advice for someone looking to work at Glidewell?

A: It depends on the person, but I would say that if you’re focused on growing personally and encouraging growth in the people around you, and you have the skills they need in the position you seek, reach out to the hiring manager. Speak to them personally about what the position entails. If it’s a good fit for you, they’ll know it and you’ll know it. As far as what to expect working here, be ready to move fast. Move fast and don’t think like you’ve always thought. Be ready to look at things differently.
