I love Septocaine® for my Rapid Anesthesia Technique; I am convinced that it works better than typical 2% lidocaine for this technique, which is detailed in video at glidewelldental.com. I heard Dr. Gordon Christensen endorse this anesthetic years ago and talk about how the absorption of the anesthetic was so good that it could be used to infiltrate lower anterior teeth (including bicuspids) without having to give a block. As I began to use Septocaine more, I started to hear rumblings about a higher incidence of paresthesia when it is used for blocks. Dr. James Dower and I discuss this in greater detail in our interview. I have chosen to stick with 2% lidocaine for my block injections, but for my Rapid Anesthesia Technique and infiltrations (which make up 90% of the injections I give), I am a Septocaine guy all the way.
