A few years back, I used to call VOCO the best-kept secret in dentistry. Today, this German company is no longer a secret because they’ve made a commitment to ensure that American dentists know about their products, which have always been popular across the rest of the world.

I was introduced to them through their post-and-core system (Rebilda® Post System [VOCO America, Inc.]) that contained a bonding agent that was new to me, Futurabond DC. It’s a dual-cure, self-etching bonding agent (seventh generation, for those of you keeping score at home) that can be used with light-, dual- or self-cure composites, core buildups, post cementation, and all indirect restorations.

I prefer the Futurabond DC single-dose blister packs, as they ensure perfectly fresh bonding agent with each use. Even though I typically prefer bulk quantities like a 4-ml bottle, I am too paranoid about decreasing the bond strength by continually removing the cap during use. Simply press the blister to allow mixing of the two components, coat the applicator brush, and apply one coat. It doesn’t get much easier than this!
