In March, Glidewell Dental Vice President of Clinical Affairs Dr. Neil Park and Executive Vice President Stephenie Goddard attended the 2018 American Dental Education Association Annual Session in Orlando, Florida, to discuss the new digital dentistry curriculum developed by the American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation and supported with a grant from Glidewell Dental. “I can’t think of a better time than the present to take on the challenge of expanding the scope of academic dentistry to include the latest digital tools and techniques available to doctors for the benefit of their patients,” Dr. Park said, recalling the meeting’s theme of “Vision 2030,” which was meant to inspire plans in 2018 that will help the dentists of 2030.

STRATEGIES TO MINIMIZE PERI-IMPLANTITIS AND PERIODONTITIS RISK PRESENTED AT AAP

Dr. Robert Horowitz of Scarsdale, New York, attended the American Academy of Periodontology Annual Meeting to present his research poster, titled, “Decreasing Peri-Implantitis and Periodontitis Risk with Novel Restorative Techniques and Materials.” His presentation discussed common causes of peri-implantitis and periodontitis as well as ways clinicians can minimize the likelihood of these diseases and other complications.

According to Dr. Horowitz’s findings, practitioners can achieve predictable results and reduce the risk of bone loss around osseointegrated implants by using implants with machined collars and stable prosthetic connections, custom abutments, screw-retained crowns and monolithic zirconia restorations.
