I’m always in the market for alternative and natural ways to improve my patient’s oral hygiene and health. One of the products advancing that goal is MI Paste™. This product is fluoride-free and contains RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP), a combination of the naturally occurring molecule casein phosphopeptide (CPP) and amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP); CPP releases calcium and phosphate ions to help stabilize ACP. While scientifically proven to help treat incipient carious lesions, MI Paste also has a variety of other uses, including desensitizing before and after hygiene appointments and whitening treatments. This topical cream can be applied daily. As a general rule, I ask my patients to brush their teeth as they normally do, and apply the MI Paste once a day — after brushing — in order to help strengthen teeth. As an alternative, MI Paste Plus™ is the fluoride-containing version of this product.
