GUTEN TAG! GERMANY JOINS INTERNATIONAL ROSTER FOR GLIDEWELL EDUCATION

The borders of Glidewell Dental education are expanding, with Germany among the latest international destinations. Dr. Neil Park, vice president of clinical affairs at Glidewell Dental, traveled there for two speaking engagements in September.

First on his itinerary was a “Knowledge Dinner” hosted by Glidewell Europe GmbH in Frankfurt, Germany, where implants were the main topic during this elegant evening in “Mainhattan,” a nickname for the city.

“Implantology is absolutely a necessary part of modern-day dentistry,” Dr. Park said in an interview with Dental Online Channel, which covered the event.

Implant dentistry is “a proven modality,” he added. “It’s highly predictable. There are lots of great products out there to help doctors be successful. And all dentists in the future will be doing this as part of everyday dentistry.”

Expanding upon the event’s implant theme, Dr. Park lectured about immediate implant placement, cemented vs. screw-retained restorations, maintenance of crestal bone, and material options for implant restorations — including BruxZir® Solid Zirconia and Obsidian® Fused to Metal. These topics also led the agenda for the second stop of Dr. Park’s speaking circuit, a workshop with the German Society of Oral Implantology (DGOI) held in Hamburg, Germany.

MISCH INSTITUTE UPHOLDS FOUNDER'S VISION FOR EXPANDED EDUCATION

At the Misch International Implant Institute, each day reflects the legacy of Dr. Carl E. Misch, the institute’s founder and an implant dentistry pioneer. In January 2017, after a protracted battle with cancer, Dr. Misch passed away at the age of 69.

Dr. Randolph Resnik holds a copy of “Avoiding Complications in Oral Implantology,” a textbook that he and Dr. Carl E. Misch coauthored.

Leading the institute in honoring his legacy and longstanding commitment to education is Dr. Randolph Resnik, who worked alongside Dr. Misch for 30 years. As faculty director and primary lecturer, Dr. Resnik is continuing the institute’s science- and research-based approach to education — a heritage of excellence in learning that Dr. Misch established in 1984, and has now reached over 6,000 doctors and counting.

Heidi Cartagena, program administrator at the institute, is also committed to upholding Dr. Misch’s legacy in implant dentistry. Heidi began as one of his assistants 30 years ago and recalls that, from the beginning, Drs. Misch’s and Resnik’s “dedication to education was clearly visible. Their philosophies flowed together effortlessly to share what they have learned with others.”

Today, the Misch Institute’s courses continue to become more widely available, and the Glidewell International Technology Center in Irvine, California, is honored to host Dr. Resnik, Heidi and attending doctors for a course in May 2018.

NEW COURSE SPOTLIGHTS DENTAL SLEEP MEDICINE

Dr. Suzanne Haley is the presenter of “Incorporating Dental Sleep Medicine Into Your Practice,” a new, two-day course at the Glidewell International Technology Center in Irvine, California.

A new course at the Glidewell International Technology Center is helping clinicians gain expertise in dental sleep medicine.

“Incorporating Dental Sleep Medicine Into Your Practice,” a two-day course introduced in September and held again in December, features Georgia-based Dr. Suzanne Haley as presenter. Animating the course with her extensive knowledge and dynamic presentation style, Dr. Haley shares from her own experience with identifying and treating sleep disorders.

She also guides attendees through logistics that are key to success, including how to build relationships to increase physician referrals, reach patients with effective marketing, and obtain reimbursement from medical insurance companies for their patients.
