This demo pack from Ultradent is one of the best bits of packaging I have seen lately. Inside are several Ultradent cards with a silver “scratch-off” spot, like you’d find on a lottery ticket. The cards prove especially useful in helping teach dentists how hard they should be scrubbing bleeding gingiva while using Ultradent syringes. The amount of pressure used to remove the silver spot is the same amount that should be used intraorally. This is counterintuitive because one might assume that bleeding gingiva should be treated gently; however, those broken capillaries need to be scrubbed close. I use ViscoStat^® Clear (25% aluminum chloride) for minor bleeding or to stop bleeding before it starts, and I break out the big gun, original ViscoStat (20% ferric sulfate), when the bleeding gets bad.
