Self-etching resin cements continue to make our lives easier, and nothing performs better than dual-cure Maxcem Elite™. The bond strength with this cement is downright impressive, 22 to 36 MPa without any separate etching or adhesive step. Bond strengths like that without etching were a dream just 10 years ago.
The single syringe makes it simple to use, and the mixing tip has a curved intraoral tip that snaps onto it for direct placement in the mouth. I use the intraoral tip any time I am placing inlays or onlays; I find it much easier to express the cement directly into the prep rather than onto the restoration. Maxcem Elite is a “universal” cement in the sense that it works well with all substrates. Basically, you can cement anything with it besides veneers. The clear shade can be used under any type of all-ceramic restoration.
Clean up is simple since you can tack cure the excess with a light as soon as the restoration is in place. I clean the margins and the interproximal areas, and have the patient bite gently on the restoration as the self-cure finishes.
