Glidewell has introduced its 2023 Glidewell Symposium program, featuring impactful continuing education opportunities on everything from implant dentistry and dental sleep medicine to digital dentistry and complete dentures. Held throughout the year at the Glidewell Clinical Education Center in Irvine, California, the program consists of distinctive two-day events specifically tailored to help dental professionals expand their practice offerings.

“I’m so happy to once again host the Glidewell Symposium on our campus,” said Glidewell Founder and President Jim Glidewell, CDT. “For more than 50 years, our goal at Glidewell has been to assist in better, faster and more accessible care. Having worked with tens of thousands of dentists over the years, we have unique insight into the everyday challenges of the practitioner, and we strive to do everything in our power to help dentists solve those issues, grow their practices and treat more patients in need.”

The Glidewell Symposium launched in 2017 to help dentists learn new skills in making dental treatment more predictable, efficient and reliable. Since its inaugural event, Glidewell has been listening to attendees and applying the feedback received each year to create an exceptional experience. Now, with even more clinical topics, more business advice, more leadership development opportunities and more hands-on workshops, the schedule provides a wide variety of events for dentists at any stage in their careers. The event calendar includes:

  • March 24–25

While each event is distinct, all symposia have one thing in common: a popular two-day educational format. On the first day, attendees will experience fast-paced, main podium presentations from experts in the field; and on the second day, participants can choose from a variety of focused lectures and hands-on workshops that teach skills that can be implemented immediately.

“We’re pleased to provide these focused, two-day educational opportunities,” said Dr. Neil Park, vice president of clinical affairs and Glidewell Symposium scientific chair. “Each event offers curriculum that is tailored to the topic, with impactful takeaways that dentists can immediately integrate into their practice. I invite dental professionals to come join us for a unique and memorable event.”

Glidewell symposia are for dentists, hygienists, and chairside and front-office team members. Tuition is $495 for each two-day event and includes complimentary breakfast and lunch on both days, as well as a campus tour and a hosted cocktail party and dinner on Friday. Participants will also be able to browse interactive exhibits during both days of the event. Due to limited space, attendees are encouraged to register early to secure their seats. Attendee talks with Dr. Choi

Faculty at the Glidewell Clinical Education Center — with its new flagship facility based in Irvine, California — has seen an upward trend in enrollment, as clinicians seek more opportunities for live continuing education.

“Dentists are once again willing to travel for courses on sleep dentistry, implants and digital technologies like scanning and milling,” said Andy Klein, senior director of clinical education and events. “Working with doctors in person is where we truly excel.”

Glidewell offers a variety of in-person courses for dentists at any point in their careers. Courses include topics such as immediate implant placement in extraction sockets, fixed fullarch implant solutions, mastering small-diameter implants, and snoring and sleep apnea treatment made easy. Courses are held in state-of-the-art facilities on both the West Coast and East Coast, in Irvine, California, and Louisville, Kentucky.

Effective and Practical Implant Overdentures

In November 2022, Glidewell hosted its most popular in-person course of the year, “Effective and Practical Implant Overdentures,” taught by Dr. Raymond Choi. As the largest segment of our population ages, the demand for implant overdentures is expected to grow rapidly and significantly. The course reviewed a detailed, step-by-step protocol for effective and practical implant overdenture treatment from start to finish — and a hands-on exercise utilized implants in a mandibular model.

“We were happy to be able to accommodate the large class size that turned out for Dr. Choi’s implant overdenture course and still be able to provide personalized instruction to attendees,” said Klein. “We look forward to providing this course again in July and November 2023, so that additional attendees can learn how to evaluate and treat more patients safely and with fewer complications.”
